Nico Rosberg is the 2016 Formula 1 World Champion. It doesn’t sound right, does it? It all came down to the last race in Abu Dhabi where, Hamilton had to win the race with his team-mate off the podium to win the title. Hamilton tried his best by backing up the pack (and apparently is under investigation by Mercedes and might either face a ban for the 2017 season or the sack for ignoring team orders) but it wasn’t enough. Rosberg finished in 2nd place to take his maiden World Championship. A word of warning, this post will focus on Mercedes a lot. I do talk about the other teams towards the end.
There’s only one team we can start off with, right? Mercedes. Who would of thought they’d be even more dominant this year after what they achieved the year before. They accumulated more points in the Constructors’ Standings than last year and it’s even more impressive as the final Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi didn’t offer double points. Last year Mercedes got a total of 701 points, this year they got 703.
The 2014 Formula 1 season is all over and what a season it was. I’m a Hamilton fan so, for me, it was brilliant to see Hamilton win his second world title. And let’s be honest, he fully deserved it.
So, the 2013 Formula 1 season is over and in a way, I’m pleased. Seeing Vettel win 13 races out of the 19 races on the calendar as well as taking nine races wins in a row after the summer break was very difficult to handle, what was it like for the drivers? The first half of the season was very good as we had some actual racing to watch.
