Hamilton’s First Race Win in a Mercedes

1 minute read

Hamilton won the Hungarian Grand Prix today and this I wasn’t expecting, and it’s fair to say, neither was he. He started on pole but as we know the Mercedes isn’t as strong on race days as it is in qualifying. Vettel was his danger man and you could say Hamilton was lucky as Vettel was stuck behind Button for around 12 laps but Hamilton drove sublimely during the race.

We now enter the summer break and that may not be the best time for Mercedes. Hamilton is 48 points behind Vettel now. I genuinely believe, after today, that Hamilton has a chance of winning the World Championship this year if Mercedes keep working as they have been for the past few months. I’m bias, but in my opinion, Hamilton is by far, the fastest guy on the grid, is driving brilliantly overall and at this moment in time has a very good car. For the next few races, if I were the likes of Vettel, Räikkönen or Alonso I’d be watching Hamilton very closely indeed and if he appeared in my mirrors, wouldn’t get in his way.
